The ingredients needed to make Spam Musubi:
  1. Prepare 1 can Spam
  2. Make ready 3 to 4 rice bowls' worth Hot cooked white rice
  3. Make ready 1 piece Nori seaweed
  4. Get 1 Tbsp Sake
  5. Take 1 Tbsp Mirin
  6. Get 1 Tbsp Soy sauce
Instructions to make Spam Musubi:
  1. Take the Spam out of the can and cut into 6 to 8 slices.
  2. Lay the Spam slices in a heated frying pan, and fry until browned. (You don't need to use any oil in the pan since the Spam renders oil).
  3. Add the sake, mirin and soy sauce to make a teriyaki sauce and coat the Spam with it.
  4. Cut the nori seaweed into strips.
  5. Make rice balls (musubi) that are the same size as the Spam. (I used about 1/2 a bowl of rice per slice.)
  6. I lined the Spam can with plastic wrap and packed rice into it to make the musubi. It was easy to make them just the right size.
  7. Put the Spam on top of the musubi, wrap a strip of nori seaweed around the middle and it's done.
  8. If you wrap them individually you can use them in bentos!!
  9. I used this Spam.
