Combine garlic, ginger, soy sauce, hot pepper flakes, and sugar in a bowl and mix well.

  1. Cut each Squid Tube in half lengthways. Using a sharp knife, score diagonally to make diamond pattern. Cut into small pieces.
  2. Place Squid in a bowl, add Sake (Rice Wine), Garlic & a pinch of Salt and massage, then set aside for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat Oil in a frying pan over a high heat. Stir-fry Squid pieces until almost cooked, then add Anchovy and cook 1 to 2 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle freshly cracked Pepper OR ‘Shichimi’ and enjoy.
  5. Another yummy topping is chopped Spring Onion and some Soy Sauce drizzled over. Yummy!

Heat up a pan over medium high heat. Although this squid stir-fry is tasty, there is some history to it that does make it a bit less appetizing, if not just plain funny.
