  1. Take 5 Crabs approx 750 gms
  2. Take 3 tbsps Coconut oil
  3. Prepare 1 tsp fennel seeds

  6. Prepare 2 onion sliced
  7. Take 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  8. Get 2 tomatoes chopped
  9. Take 1 tsp turmeric powder
  10. Make ready 1 tsp Coriander powder
  11. Get 1 tsp Chilli powder
  12. Get 1 tbsp grated coconut
  13. Make ready 2 tbsps poppy seeds
  14. Get 6 whole cashewnuts
  15. Take 2 cardamom
  16. Get 3 cloves
  17. Take 1 small cinnamon stick
  18. Prepare 1 bay leaf
  19. Prepare 2 cups water
  20. Make ready to taste Salt
  21. Get 1 sprig fried curry leaves
Instructions to make Spicy Crab Masala:
  1. Heat 2 tbsps coconut oil, add fennel seeds, cumin seeds, peppercorns and saute for a min.
  2. Add sliced onions and saute for 2 mins.
  3. Add ginger garlic paste and saute for a min.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and saute till it turns soft and mushy
  5. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, salt to taste, mix well and saute for a min.
  6. Add ¼ cup water, cover the pan and cook for 1-2 mins.
  7. Let the masala cool down, add them to a grinder cup, add grated coconut, poppy seeds, cashewnuts and grind them into a smooth paste.
  8. Heat 1 tbsp coconut oil, add cardamom, cloves, cinnamon and bay leaf and saute for a min
  9. Add the paste, stir continously and cook for 2 mins.
  10. Add 1-1½ cups water, stir well blending the masalas well with water.
  11. Add the cleaned Crabs and mix well.
  12. Bring it to a boil, cover the pan and cook for about 15 mins. Adjust the gravy consistency as per your requirement.
  13. Garnish with fried curry leaves and take off the heat.
