Instructions to make Nishime:
  1. Soak konbu & mushrooms for 2 hours.
  2. Wash konbu & tie in knots about 2 inches apart. Cut between knots.
  3. Slice shiitake in bite sized pieces.
  4. Par boil Araimo, peel and cut in bite sized pieces.
  5. Scrape gobo & cut into 1/4" thick diagonal 1inch slices. Soak in water.
  6. Peel & cut carrots in bite sized pieces.
  7. Massage konnyaku with salt. Slice & make 1/2" slits. Flip one end thru slit to make twists.
  8. Cut aburage in bite sizes pieces.
  9. Fry chicken (or pork belly) in oil until light brown.
  10. Add water, konbu, shiitake, aburage & konnyaku. Cover & cook for 15 minutes.
  11. Add shoyu, sugar, dashi-no-moto, takenoko, carrots & gobo and cook for 15 minutes.
  12. Add araimo and cook for 15 minutes.

Vegetables are cut into large chunks Japanese Vegetable Stew (Nishime). You can use whatever root vegetables you can find. His nickname is Shun Shun (しゅんしゅん). Shun Nishime - a Japanese model and actor who is represented by the talent agency Oscar Promotion. His nickname is Shun Shun (しゅんしゅん).
